with the rise in the use of afm (atomic force microscope), we have witnessed a growing use of atomic microscope based nanorobots in the precise displacement of various particles. there are certain limitations to the application of nanorobots in the moving of nanoparticles. one of the most important of these limitations is the lack of an appropriate image feedback concurrent with the displaci...

Imbibition is one of the key phenomena underlying processes such as oil recovery and others. In this paper, the influence of nanoparticles on spontaneous water imbibition into ultraconfined channels is investigated by molecular dynamics simulation. By combining the dynamic process of imbibition, the water contact angle in the capillary and the relationship of displacement (l) and time (t), a co...

The enzyme-free toehold-mediated strand displacement reaction has shown potential for building programmable DNA circuits, biosensors, molecular machines and chemical reaction networks. Here we report a simple colorimetric method using gold nanoparticles as signal generators for the real-time detection of the product of the strand displacement cascade. During the process the assembled gold nanop...

Development of simple and reliable protocols for the synthesis of phase-pure core–shell metal nanoparticles is an important problem in nanomaterials synthesis; the synthesis of Co-core Au-shell nanoparticles is described in this paper. The formation of these core–shell nanoparticles is driven by a displacement reaction on the surface of cobalt nanoparticles, where the surface of the cobalt nano...

Hexagonal Ag/Pt nanoshells were prepared by using a hexagonal Ag nanoplate as the displacement template and by introducing Pt ions. The prepared Ag/Pt nanoshells played the role of an electrocatalyst in an oxygen reduction process. Compared to spherical Pt and Ag/Pt nanoparticles, the hexagonal Ag/Pt nanoshells showed higher activity for oxygen electroreduction.

A simple and practical method for coating palladium/silver nanoparticles on polyimide (PI) nanotubes is developed. The key steps involved in the process are silver ion exchange/reduction and displacement reactions between silver and palladium ions. With the addition of silver, the conductivity of the PI nanotubes is greatly enhanced. Further, the polyimide nanotubes with a dense, homogeneous co...

Type B gelatin-based engineered nanovectors system (GENS) was developed for systemic gene delivery in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. The surface of thiolated gelatin nanoparticles was modified with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) specific peptide that targets on the EGFR receptor of Panc-1 cells and this system could release the payload under reducing environment, such as high intr...

Copper nanoparticles have been deposited on silicon surfaces by a simple galvanic displacement reaction, and rapid thermal annealing has been performed under various atmospheric conditions. In spite of the general tendency of the agglomeration of nanoparticles to lower the surface energy at elevated temperatures, our plan-view and cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy d...

In the present study, molecular dynamics simulations have been utilized to provide fundamental understanding of melting behavior of pure Pd and Pt nanoparticles with the size of 10 nm in diameter, both free and graphene-supported during continuous heating. The embedded atom method is employed to model the metal-metal interactions, whereas a Lennard-Jones potential is applied to describe the met...
